Rebecca Shaw

As a Marriage and Family Therapist intern with a background in health and exercise science, I hold a strong belief in the connection between physical, emotional, and mental health. My therapeutic approach is influenced by narrative, emotionally focused, and trauma-informed models of care with an emphasis on personal and relational connections, emotional awareness, and growth.
My training in relational and systems-based work focuses on how patterns develop over time in relationships and how they can be understood and shifted in ways that support greater connection and wellbeing. I believe in the strength and resilience of individuals and their capacity for growth and change for themselves, and within their relationships and environments.
As an LGBTQ-affirming therapist, I draw from both my lived experience and clinical training to provide a warm and collaborative space where clients can feel safe being themselves and exploring what matters most in their lives. I value authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and see therapy as a place where people can feel more understood, less alone, and more connected to themselves and the people around them.
My earlier work included mindfulness-based and outdoor practices, which continues to shape my holistic perspective, particularly around the mind-body connection. I also value the role of nature in wellbeing, and I often look to how relationships with the natural world can play a role in grounding and healing. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy gardening, time near water, and being in the mountains.
