Trauma

I am Joshua Vandevender—a husband, father, veteran, and counselor-in-training. With over a decade of experience in pastoral and trauma care, I have spent seven years in military service as a Chaplain’s Assistant and nine years as a community chaplain. Throughout this journey, I have walked alongside individuals facing anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. My diverse background—living across the U.S., leading ministries, and supporting law enforcement as a police chaplain—enhances my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

I believe that every person has inherent value, resilience, and a story that deserves to be heard. My counseling philosophy centers on creating a transparent, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental environment. I strive to meet clients where they are and work collaboratively to promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal growth. Whether I’m guiding a couple through relational conflicts or helping an individual rediscover their purpose, I provide a safe space for exploration, healing, and transformation.

Therapeutic Approach

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care, while also incorporating spiritual integration and crisis intervention techniques. I specialize in trauma, family dynamics, anxiety, and spiritual resilience.
