My name is Dr. Gustavo Barrientos Jr., and I hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with specialized training in forensic psychology, the area of psychology that focuses on the intersection between human behavior and the legal system. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals, including justice-impacted populations, those diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and clients navigating the challenges of community reintegration. I have also worked closely with first responders, supporting them as they manage the unique emotional and psychological demands that accompany their service to others.

I believe that people are not defined by their past experiences, trauma, circumstances, demographics, or decisions. Instead, I believe that each individual has the capacity for growth, change, and self-determination. Through the support of a strong therapeutic relationship, clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves, recognize how their past has shaped them, and cultivate the characteristics and behaviors they wish to embody moving forward. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment that promotes self-discovery, resilience, and meaningful personal growth while helping clients overcome obstacles that may be preventing them from living the life they desire.

My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I draw from Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help individuals gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns. Through this process, clients can develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and begin the healing process. I particularly enjoy working with emerging adults, individuals from marginalized communities, justice-impacted individuals, and those facing significant life transitions or personal challenges.

One of the aspects of this work that I value most is the therapeutic relationship itself. I recognize the courage it takes to share personal experiences and vulnerabilities, and I consider it a privilege to be trusted with those stories. Because of this, I am deeply committed to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and a nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard, respected, and supported. I cherish the opportunity to walk alongside individuals on their mental health journey and to assist them in creating lasting and meaningful change in their lives.
