Mikal Stein

I’m Mikal, a second-year student in the Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s program at Oregon Tech. My path into the mental health field began with my undergraduate studies in Psychology and Criminal Justice at the University of Texas at San Antonio and has continued through hands-on experience working directly with youth in both residential care and justice-involved settings. I spent part of my upbringing in Alaska before moving to Texas, and my personal and professional experiences have shaped my interest in supporting people through transitions, challenges, and growth.
I bring a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, grounded in family systems theory and supported by mindfulness and holistic practices. I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they build meaningful connections and navigate life’s complexities with compassion and clarity. I value creating a therapeutic space where people feel heard, respected, and empowered in their healing process. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and I strive to meet each person with openness and curiosity.
Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy bird watching, running, gardening, and spending time outdoors with my husband.
